At the recent Tipperary School Boys School Girls District League AGM it was decided to pilot the FAI’s associate referee programmesee attached details anyone wishing to take part please contact your local club attached is a brief outline of the program. FAI Referee Beginners course are run on a needs basis depending on the requirements for Referees in any particular region. To become an active Referee you must be over the age of 16, however you can undertake the course prior to reaching this age. information on available courses can be accessed by the following link https://fainet.ie/vkal/mod Following successful completion of the Course you will, subject to Garda Vetting clearance, be allocated to a league (usually Schoolboy/Girl) within your area and eligible for appointment to games within that league. The number of appointments and level of games you receive will be at the discretion of the Leagues Referee Allocator. There is also a requirement to undertake an Irish Sports Council approved 3 hour Child Welfare Awareness workshop, this is a compulsory requirement for all FAI Registered Referees, however you can commence Refereeing as soon as you receive Garda Vetting clearance and undertake the workshop later. Further Referee training opportunities will be available through the FAI Grassroots Referee development programme and our annual Grassroots Seminars , attendance at these workshops is compulsory and further information on these aspects of your referee licence will be explained at your beginners course.
